![]() ![]() GBĮxpect the Rangers, under manager Bruce Bochy, to be aggressive leading up to the trade deadline. This isn’t the time to get shy, and it’s hard to believe that’s what the Rangers will do. There’s no reason to give Jacob deGrom close to $200 million if you’re also not willing to replace him when he breaks down. It took the legends of Cody Ross, Javier López, Marco Scutaro and Jake Peavy to get Bochy to the Hall, and the Rangers should take a similar approach. The highs of the active roster have been high enough to get them thinking about a National League West title, but it’s hard to imagine that they don’t want outside help, and a lot of it. Alek Thomas and Jake McCarthy have promise, but that hasn’t translated to a lot of production just yet, so the roster can use another outfielder and/or a DH. The bullpen has been a net positive overall, but they’re still going with a closer-by-committee arrangement. After Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly (now injured), the rotation gets iffy.
